Oil climbs on Iran tensions, stocks fall
What happened
Stocks fell Monday as oil prices moved higher on fading hopes for a US and Iran agreement, with the Dow down 249 points or 0.46% to 53,483 and the S&P 500 down 0.45% to 7,750. The 30-year Treasury yield stayed above 5.3%, its highest since 2007, which adds pressure on top of the geopolitical worry. Higher oil feeds into gas prices, shipping, and the cost of making and moving almost everything, so it usually turns up in what you pay at the pump and at the store within a few weeks.
